Phyllis Chapell

Phyllis Chapell has spent her life developing a universal musical style, singing "world songs". Starting from an early background in folk and popular music, she has traveled to various countries and learned to perform songs of the world in native languages and authentic styles on the guitar. Her repertoire has expanded to 11 languages, featuring songs from Brazil, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. She also has a repertoire of original songs, and her "Soul in Flight" won 2nd place in the Best Cabaret/Torch Song category of the Just Plain Folks 2001 Awards.

Laura Dishong

Laura Dishong is a harpist, vocalist, and songwriter. She's appeared at the Philadelphia Flower Show as a harping Southern Belle and as a toga-clad songstress at Caesars Casino in Atlantic City, among many other venues in the Tri-State Area. She is nearing the completion of her first CD, Little Green Apples, which features 11 of her original songs for rock harp. With the help of her husband, keyboardist Mark Dishong, and her daughter, fiddler Ellie Dishong, she's ready to show you she's got some pluck!

Joe Fanning

Joe Fanning is a folk singer in the classic 1960's style, drawing from personal experiences on the road to make incisive musical commentaries on contemporary political and social issues with humor and poignancy. His guitar-playing style is sparing and uncluttered by ornamentation, which makes his message all the more powerful.

David Kleiner

David Kleiner is an award winning performer and songwriter. His "Stand Up for Freedom" (co-written with Mick Choder) won the Philadelphia Songwriters' Project's Vote Festival award for best song. In 2009, David garnered the top prize in the Emerging Performer competition at West Virginia's clothing-optional Avalon Folk Festival. He will always remember the standing ovation he received there for his song "That's Why I Fight." David has opened for Randall Williams, Hot Soup, We're About Nine, and Dave Matthews and headlined many Philadelphia area venues including the Mermaid Inn, the Barrington Coffeehouse, and World Cafe Live Upstairs . You may also have heard him performing live on WXPNs Helen Leicht and Gene Shay Shows. The magazine Xroads gave five stars to David's latest studio release, The News That's Fit to Sing, calling it one of the best CDs of the last five years. Reviewing This Human Heart, David's 2006 release, Sing Out -- the venerable magazine of folk music -- raved, "It's all about intensity and passion."

Mike McDevitt

Mike McDevitt is a Delaware-based singer/songwriter who plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and percussion, and has enjoyed doing so for many years. But he doesn't strictly consider himself a performer as much as a songwriter telling real stories about real people. He says, "I don't come from a musical family, but I love to play and sing the songs I write. They're real and about real life events and feelings -- and you should see the reaction I get from fans."

Blair Savercool

Known and loved as PASA's official "Sound Guy," Blair Savercool actually has a long history as a performing musician dating back to the 1970's as a lead guitarist in hard rock bands. One of the most versatile musicians you'll ever meet, Blair not only plays multiple instruments, he can write in multiple genres: Blues, Christian, Folk, and Rock. Possessed with a singing voice that can be both sweet and powerful, he is just discovering his inner songwriting voice. A sound engineer, producer, and consummate sideman, Blair can now add "performing singer/songwriter" to his musical resume.

Christine Winchester

Christine Winchester is one of the co-chairs of PASA. She has performed solo and in many groups, most notably in the duet Winchester/Perry. Christine's warm stage presence was fined tuned in theatre and her impressive voice has been compared to Karen Carpenter and Carly Simon. Her original songs, performed and written on both guitar and piano, range from confessional folk and funny tunes to more rock influences like singer-songwriter Aimee Mann.
