PASA House Concert Series

One of the longest running house concert series in the Philadelphia Area, for more than 20 years, PASA has presented its members in a true house concert setting. Since its creation by Rob Lincoln in 2000, more than 150 different performers have performed as a co-headliner.

Each concert features three PASA members as co-headliners, plus 8 to 12 "Open Chair" performers. Anyone who wants to play an original song can be an Open Chair performer. These shows are in round robin format, one song at a time and the Open Chair slots not only begin the show but also occur at the end of every round. There are usually seven rounds with an intermission in the middle.

Performers:

Neal Phillips

Neal Phillips writes thought-provoking and (sometimes) funny songs that have been performed by Bob Zentz, Holly and Glenn Yarbrough, Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen, and Pete Seeger, among others. His writing touches on matters from the global significance of stackable chairs to the life and times of Roy G. Biv; from Claude Debussy and Claude Monet dancing in the moonlight to the quiet joys of walking home on a snowy midwinter evening. Neal's songs have won the USA Songwriting Competition and the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest and have been featured on The Midnight Special, The Folk Sampler, Dr. Demento's Basement Tapes, and in Sing Out! Magazine. Neal has released ten solo CDs, most recently "Songs from My Room" (2021) and "Fireflies" (2019). He is also a member of Trifolkal, a Virginia based folk trio that recently released their "Silver" album celebrating 25 years together.

Avi Wisnia

Award-winning singer-songwriter Avi Wisnia presents an eclectic mix of refreshingly original songs and inventive covers, finding inspiration in Brazilian bossa nova, acoustic American folk, 1950's west-coast jazz, and contemporary pop. Avi's clever lyrics give a knowing nod to his contemporaries, while his smooth vocals and deft piano skills assure you that this is truly something new. Avi tours in support of his debut album, "Something New", performing in prestigious venues around the world -- from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City to The Kennedy Center in Washington DC to concerts in Warsaw, Poland, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His latest single "Sky Blue Sky" was recorded via satellite between Philadelphia and Brazil, winning recognition from the Philadelphia Songwriters Project and MidAtlantic Songwriters Competition. In addition to being a performing songwriter, Avi Wisnia has also given a TED talk and performed with The Moth storytellers.
