PASA House Concert Series

One of the longest running house concert series in the Philadelphia Area, for more than 20 years, PASA has presented its members in a true house concert setting. Since its creation by Rob Lincoln in 2000, more than 150 different performers have performed as a co-headliner.

Each concert features three PASA members as co-headliners, plus 8 to 12 "Open Chair" performers. Anyone who wants to play an original song can be an Open Chair performer. These shows are in round robin format, one song at a time and the Open Chair slots not only begin the show but also occur at the end of every round. There are usually seven rounds with an intermission in the middle.

Performers:

Terry Merriman

Terry Merriman has been writing and performing songs for over 40 years. Although he started by playing the Hammond organ in numerous rock bands, his main songwriting vehicles have been the acoustic guitar and piano. He has had vast experience experimenting with different musical forms, incorporating not just classic acoustic rock into his songs but also elements of jazz, classical, and world music. His performances show a mastery of the art. He uses 11 different tunings on guitar along with a multitude of fingering-styles that provide different paths for his song writing. No two songs are alike. His instrumentals on guitar and keyboard show the complexity of his sound. His lyrics explore the world in an insightful manner while his voice provides a deeply pleasing, soothing portrayal of a universal desire to be loved and to be open to it.

David C. Perry

David C. Perry is best known as a children's entertainer who creatively combines art, music, and comedy under the banner "Mr. David's Drawings, Songs, & Silliness." He also writes songs (from wacky to wistful) for grownups and really relishes chances such as this concert to let his "inner adult" shine. David has performed at such venues as the Philadelphia Folk Festival and he's received airplay locally and nationally (including NPR and The Dr. Demento Show) as well as in his native Canada.

Blair Savercool

Known and loved as PASA's official "Sound Guy," Blair Savercool actually has a long history as a performing musician dating back to the 1970's as a lead guitarist in hard rock bands. One of the most versatile musicians you'll ever meet, Blair not only plays multiple instruments, he can write in multiple genres: Blues, Christian, Folk, and Rock. Possessed with a singing voice that can be both sweet and powerful, he is just discovering his inner songwriting voice. A sound engineer, producer, and consummate sideman, Blair can now add "performing singer/songwriter" to his musical resume.

You: The fourth performer can be YOU! The first eight (or so) performers to sign up at the show will sing one original song as part of the concert. This is an extra special OPEN STAGE SHOWCASE OPPORTUNITY, so bring along any instruments you'll want to play. The first people to arrive get to sign up first. The open stage slots often fill up, so come early to get a slot.
