PASA House Concert Series

One of the longest running house concert series in the Philadelphia Area, for more than 20 years, PASA has presented its members in a true house concert setting. Since its creation by Rob Lincoln in 2000, more than 150 different performers have performed as a co-headliner.

Each concert features three PASA members as co-headliners, plus 8 to 12 "Open Chair" performers. Anyone who wants to play an original song can be an Open Chair performer. These shows are in round robin format, one song at a time and the Open Chair slots not only begin the show but also occur at the end of every round. There are usually seven rounds with an intermission in the middle.

NOTE: Doors open 30 minutes before concert start time. Please arrive early so we can start on time!

Performers:

Tim LaBorie

After Tim LaBorie heard Dylan perform in 1964 he went to a pawnshop and bought a guitar. With his musical roots in early folk, blues, and old time country music, Tim evolved into writing songs and playing his own music. His songs are sometimes deeply personal, always good storytelling, and they are honest and true to human emotion.
Over the past several years he has been spending half his life in northern Nova Scotia where, with a new group of musician friends, he plays community halls and farmers' markets.
At the beginning of the COVID lockdown Tim knew he needed a project and began recording his third album, this one in his home studio. The professionally mastered album "Just Where You Are" was released in 2021.

Rusty and Jan

William "Rusty" Crowell and Jan Alba are a husband and wife acoustic guitar and flute duo celebrating 25 years of playing music together. In addition to being an excellent interpreter of folk, folk-rock, and many other genres, Rusty is a fine songwriter. Jan is a classically trained flutist. Together, they create a unique sound that is better heard than described.

Nathan Surles

Nathan Surles comes from Wilmington, Delaware. His guitar style blends a unique classical and folk derived fingerpicking with some percussive strumming. Vocally, he blends dark soft tones to match the guitar. The songs he writes are stories of contemplation, mantras, and invocations. Before moving to the Philadelphia region he spent time in the singer/songwriter circles of Kentucky and the college scenes of Virginia.
You: The fourth performer can be YOU! The first eight (or so) performers to sign up at the show will sing one original song as part of the concert. This is an extra special OPEN STAGE SHOWCASE OPPORTUNITY, so bring along any instruments you'll want to play. The first people to arrive get to sign up first. The open stage slots often fill up, so come early to get a slot.
